Stakeholders
The military recognise that they share Dartmoor’s rugged beauty
with many others
-
The landowners – who licence Ministry of
Defence the right to train and pass various responsibilities to fulfil
in support of their land management.
-
Statutory Bodies – The Ministry of Defence
works closely with English
Heritage, the National
Park Authority, Natural
England and other Statutory Bodies to ensure that the its interests
are reconciled with the aspirations and responsibilities of others.
-
Farmers with rights of common – who have
created and maintain much of Dartmoor’s natural environment,
providing the Armed Forces with a realistic training ground.
-
The local people and communities – The contribution
made by the South West Region to the defence of the United Kingdom
has relied heavily on Dartmoor; in return the MOD makes a considerable
contribution to the well being of the Region.
-
Members of interest groups – which are consulted
informally and who’s right to express their views is respected.
-
Visitors – who enjoy Dartmoor and contribute
to the local economy.
The Ministry of Defence values the contribution made to national defence
by all of its staff, partners and contractors. Landmarc
Support Services are currently Defence Training Estates commercial
partner responsible for making available military training facilities.
