The Armed Forces

The United Kingdom’s Armed Forces, consist of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines, the Army and the Royal Air Force. They are maintained as an insurance against threats to this country and to promote the United Kingdom’s wider security interests the maintenance of international peace and stability.

Britain’s Armed Forces are respected throughout the World for their professionalism and operational effectiveness. This reputation has been hard won and in recent years amply demonstrated in a variety of international operations. Their thorough professionalism is only achieved through tough training in realistic conditions. High standards require demanding training. Providing the right land for them to train on is vital to the success of our Armed Forces.

Defence Training Estates, an operational division of Defence Estates, manages the land on which the Armed Forces train and endeavours to make better use of facilities, enhance conservation and improve public access.
