Integrated Land Management Plan (ILMP)
Dartmoor Training Area Detailed Aims and Objectives:
Relationship with Local Communities
Aim
To promote Dartmoor Training Area as a good neighbour, which
works with local communities to minimise disturbance and maximise positive
social impacts.
Objective RLC 1:
To promote Dartmoor Training Area as a good neighbour, which works with
local communities to minimise disturbance and maximise positive social
impacts.
Background and Management Implications
DTA has been a key component of the Dartmoor community for many years
and strives hard to support the local community and be a considerate
neighbour.
Continue to support local Remembrance Services, charitable events and
local charitable organisations.
Continue to develop interpretation of information to illustrate how
the military use, share and cares for the moor. Maintain the relationship
with local clubs and organisations that use DTA for recreational casual
use that are compatible with the military use of the site. Continue to
develop the site interpretation for internal and external users for the
themes identified within this plan ie Military Use, Access, Nature Conservation
etc.
Performance Indicator
Increase positive feedback and reduce complaints year on year.
Objective RLC 2:
To achieve a positive image of military integration into and support
for the Dartmoor community.
Background and Management Implications
The military must not assume that the local community and visiting public
clearly understands the role of the armed forces and their requirement
to train across Dartmoor. DTA needs to ensure that this information is
widely available so that the Armed Forces using Dartmoor do so with the
strong support of the local community.
Establish a plan that helps DTA focus the delivery of this objective.
Performance Indicator
Positive feedback on military activities gauged through balance of press
clippings.
