To continue to provide sustainable, cost effective and safe military training for light forces across Dartmoor Training Area so long as it is necessary for the security of the nation and its interests.

To support, and where applicable, maintain sustainable, sensitive, low intensity agricultural practice.

To support, safeguard, and where applicable, enhance key habitats and species through the development of environmentally sustainable management.

To protect, maintain and enhance the archaeological and cultural heritage resource across Dartmoor Training Area.

To protect, maintain and enhance the characteristic landscape of Dartmoor.

To protect and enhance natural resources.

To support the certainty and quality of public access and recreation, wherever this is compatible with military training and operational requirements, safety, security, conservation and the interests of landlords and tenants.

To promote Dartmoor Training Area as a good neighbour, which works with local communities to minimise disturbance and maximise positive social impacts.
