Forestry Commission

The Forestry Commission’s mission is to protect and expand Britain's forests and woodlands and increase their value to society and the environment. In June 2001, the National Parks Authority and the Forestry Commission signed an accord to enhance the roles of woodlands within National Parks.

Stakeholder Objectives

• Conserve and enhance the landscapes and cultural heritage
• Conserve wildlife and deliver the UK Biodiversity Action Plan
• Improve recreation opportunities and local people's quality of life
• Promote the role of woodlands in sustainable rural development
