Location and Size
Dartmoor Training Area consists of some 13,000 ha of moorland and is located approximately 20km west of Exeter and 15km north of Plymouth. In addition to the designated training area, the Ministry of Defence uses an additional 35,000 ha of unenclosed land for transit purposes. Dartmoor Training Area lies wholly within the Dartmoor National Park and forms 14% of the Dartmoor National Park area.
